Nursing as we all know is a dynamic act of caring for the preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative aspects of our client may it be clinical or community settings. Our life as student nurses reflects this ever dynamic and cyclic profession. We never stay on the safe sides rather we strive to maximize our resources to explore whats out there for us. Nursing is a broad profession, this makes us future nurses unique. Other professions use science to perfect their skills. We on the other hand, use not only sciences but most of all our hearts to aid our clients/patients to live a better life.
Four years ago, while taking my placement exam at the High School extension campus, I already forecast myself wearing a white clinical uniform and taking care of sick people. I thought at that time that nursing is an easy profession. However, as I gradually immersed myself in the college's hot waters. It came into my senses that nursing indeed is not an easy profession. As a matter of fact, I myself got 8 days extension in the first semester of my Level II because of not having some prescribed requirements in my CHN Bag. With this, I realized that discipline is very important in the practice of nursing. We are not merely handling microscopes and computers that we could undo it or can delete our mistakes. Our clinical instructors should be strict because we our handling lives of our client/patient.
One of my professor told me and I would like to quote her that, “Cheating has been a way of life for students nowadays” ( I don't refer to student nurses alone but all students in general). Cheating itself has many forms. . I would admit that at some point I cheated. I reflected and realized that by doing it I was just fooling my self. What if that item was part of the board exam? what if I am caught into that same situation given on that item what would I do? Having high grades without learning something from a certain conecpt would mean nothing in the end. Others, would justify it that they are doing these in order to pass. Ethical principles of Justice and Veracity should always be observed future nurses. C Always remember, that someone up there is watching us!!
